Health & Safety
Health & Safety Policy Statement
Energize Apex Academy prioritises the health, safety, and wellbeing of all members, coaches, and visitors. We operate to the highest standards, following recognised UK health & safety regulations.
-
Risk Assessments: Conducted for all classes, covering Tiny Titans (ages 4–6) to Teens/Adults. Risk assessments are reviewed every six months.
-
First Aid: At least one first-aid trained coach is present at every session. Several coaches hold First Aid at Work qualifications. A fully stocked first-aid kit and a defibrillator are kept on site.
-
Accident Reporting: All injuries, no matter how small, are recorded in an accident logbook and digitally. Parents are notified immediately for youth athletes.
-
Emergency Evacuation: Clear evacuation routes are displayed. Fire drills are conducted annually with children so they know the procedure.
-
Equipment Safety: Weekly checks are logged for mats, gloves, pads, and safety gear. Unsafe equipment is immediately removed from use.
-
Insurance: Energize Apex Academy holds public liability, instructor indemnity, and personal accident cover. Insurance certificates are displayed clearly.
Athlete Welfare & Performance

Athlete Care Policy
The physical and mental wellbeing of athletes is central to everything we do.
-
Injury Prevention: All sessions include structured warm-ups and cool-downs designed for the specific training type (points fighting, K1, kick light, etc.). Coaches are trained to spot early signs of injury.
-
Concussion Protocols: Any suspected head injury leads to immediate removal from training or competition. Return to training requires medical clearance and adherence to WAKO/UK concussion guidelines.
-
Return-to-Play Policy: Injured athletes must have written clearance from a doctor or physiotherapist before resuming training.
-
Nutrition & Hydration: Parents receive guidelines on healthy eating and safe hydration practices. No extreme dieting or unsafe weight-cutting is permitted.
-
Mental Wellbeing: Athletes are encouraged to speak openly to coaches. Where needed, athletes are signposted to external mental health support.
-
Anti-Bullying: Zero tolerance policy. Any form of bullying, verbal or physical, results in disciplinary action. Clear reporting methods are available to children and parents.
Safeguarding
Safeguarding Policy Statement
Energize Apex Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children, young people, and vulnerable adults. We believe that every individual has the right to train in a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment.
-
Safeguarding Officer: A named, trained Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) will be clearly displayed on posters in the academy, on the website.
-
DBS Checks: All staff and coaches are required to hold an enhanced DBS check, renewed every three years, with records kept securely.
-
Mandatory Training: All staff complete safeguarding training such as NSPCC "Child Protection in Sport" or UK Coaching safeguarding courses.
-
Photography & Filming Policy: No photographs or videos are permitted without parental consent. Parents sign a media form on joining, aligned with Sport England safeguarding standards.
-
Codes of Conduct: Fighters, parents, and coaches sign a code of conduct covering respect, behaviour, and safeguarding expectations.
